Dry Falls

Walk behind Falls

Dry Falls

The falls are named because you can walk behind them and stay "relatively" dry. The Cullasaja River is fairly large and impressive as it rushes overhead. The free-fall culminates in a narrow chute into a water-filled chasm. Visit after a heavy rain for an especially neat view.

Directions

From downtown Highlands, NC, travel about 3 miles West on US Hwy. 64 into the Cullasaja River Gorge (a little less than a mile past Bridal Veil Falls). The parking area is signed.

Trail

Follow the only path down a set of steps and onto the paved path that leads to the falls.
