Noted for their bluish color, the Blue Ridge Mountains contains the highest mountains in the east with over a hundred peaks exceed 5,000 feet in elevation. The highest peak in the Blue Ridge is Mt. Chimney Rock, is considered one of the most iconic sites in North Carolina. From its top, you can take in the spectacular 75-mile panoramic views of Hickory Nut Gorge and Lake Lure.
